ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The various academic activities in the institution. Definition of Related Terms:
a. Semester: Is a two term session in one academic year consisting two semesters and each semester has approximately 21-24 weeks

b. Session: This means the academic year of the school usually from January to February of the succeeding year. An academic session is made up of two semesters.
c. An academic program: is defined as combination of courses and/or requirements leading to certificate.
d. Course: A course is a unique combination of title of subjects, course number, credit hours, and other course attributes that may include terms offered, cross listed courses, contact hours, pre- or co-requisites, credit type, level.
e. Modules and Courses: A module is a component of a course consisting of a body of knowledge and technical/business skills which can be accomplished by an average student within a period of time. Many modules make up a given course which represents a larger body of related knowledge. This terminates with a grade which is recorded towards the final exam.
f. Course System: This is a carefully designed curriculum in specific subject areas and is usually broken down into course units.
g. Each course normally runs for a semester. However, some subject areas which though closely related, and are too wide to fit into a single course, are usually broken down into two or more courses, each with its own designated number of credit hour.
h. Course work: This includes assessment of the student’s performance and final examinations. Course Work (CW) assessment shall include any of, or all the following: Class Work; Tests and quizzes; take home assignments; Group reports/projects; practical; Laboratory/Studio/workshop; and field work. Furthermore, course work could consist of:
I. Two tests of about one hour in duration
II. excursion/project
III. Others i.e homework, quizzes, etc.
IV. Workshop practice.

School Inspectors
There shall be school inspection by education inspectors who shall be invited from home and abroad from time to time to inspect the school and ensure that it is in conformity with international standard and in line with the policies of the Federal Ministry of Education.
